Primêre Skool Dirkie Uys is a former Afrikaans medium school situated at 100 Hollesley Road in Bluff. The history of the school reveals that its establishment was the realization of a special ambition to achieve Mother tongue education to ensure that children received their tuition within their own cultural milieu.

Three Dirkie Uys schools were established in 1956 and opened their doors on 6 June 1956. Those were Dirkie Uys Junior Primêre Skool, Dirkie Uys Senior Primêre Skool and Dirkie Uys Hoërskool situated at 18 Island View Road in Bluff. In 1968 another Afrikaans medium school known as Primêre Skool Andries Pretorius was established in the vicinity of the current Kingsley Road.

In 1990 there was a sharp decrease in the number of Afrikaner learners attending the Afrikaans medium schools in the Bluff area. This resulted in the merger of all the Afrikaans medium primary schools in 1991 when Dirkie Uys Primêre Skool and Dirkie Uys Senior Primêre Skool moved to Primêre Skool Andries Pretorius to form one primary school that most people call Dirkie Uys Primary School today. Before this merger Mr Sam de Klerk had been the principal of  Dirkie Uys Senior Primêre Skool. Mrs Alta Marais had been principal of Dirkie Uys Primêre Skool. Mr Andrew La Grange was the Acting principal of Primêre Skool Andries Pretorius at the time of the merger.

Mr Sam de Klerk became the principal of the new school that was named Primêre Skool Dirkie Uys. The school hall was named Andries Pretorius Hall. The first school day was 15 January 1991. In 2001 Primêre Skool Dirkie Uys became a parallel medium school and from then became known as Primêre Skool Dirkie Uys Primary School.
